The Central Bank sets the value of the Seychelles Ruppe by weights of the currencies in the Seychelles Trade and Tourism Weighted Basket (STTWB). The new revised basket is shown in this table, the exchange rate given is an everage and is supposed to be annonced by the Central Bank twice a week.

The revision was effected to reflect the significant changes in tourism and trade patterns over the past three years.  The basket was also revised to incorporate the Euro, the common currency of the European Monetary Union countries.  In light of this, the weights of three Euro-zone currencies, namely Italian lira, German mark and French franc, have been incorporated into the Euro weight.  Thus, the STTWB now comprises of six currencies instead of the previous eight.

current notes

The new series of notes, referred to as the 1998 series, incorporates the latest security features:
*    When held up against the light, the water mark image of a turtle can be seen.
*    A "windowed" thread comes to the surface at regular interval so that its metallic shine can be seen.
*    See-through features; when the banknote is held up against the light, parts of the turtle design printed on the back will fit exactly within unprinted areas on the front.
*    Specially developed metallic fluorescent ink was incorporated in the design.
*    The notes contain pattern designed to distort and visualise should any attempt be made to colour copy or scan the banknote
The front of the R100 note features the pitcher plant and "Vielle Babone Cecile" A new version has the same features with an additional distinct sail fish with a golden foil on the dorsal fin.
The front of the R50 note features an orchid "Paille en Que" and an Angel Fish.
The front of the R25 note depicts the plant Wrights Gardenia and Lion Fish. 
The front of the R10 note features the Coco-de Mer palm and the Black Spotted Trigger Fish
